About Us

Colourphill is a boutique design and communication firm with big agency capabilities. We transform ideas into words, words into strategies, and strategies into simple, visual solutions.

We endeavour to create design solutions that bring our clients’ messages to their intended audience in a way that is original, insightful and that produces results. We feel that every project we undertake should make a real difference to our clients’ success.

Founded in 1998 by Irina Khvalova, Colourphill is known for creative problem-solving, beautiful design, detailed execution and an exceptional client experience. We’re proud of our long-term relationships with our clients, some for more than 15 years.

We are among the few studios in the Greater Toronto Area where clients will get the big agency experience, while benefiting from the responsive and personable service of a boutique firm.

“I cannot express how appreciative we all are for your efforts on this package. This looks absolutely amazing and I am very excited to present this to sponsors in the coming weeks! On behalf on the entire Out On Bay Street organization thank you very much!”

Marshal Peacock, Out On Bay Street's VP of Strategic Relations

“Their ability to deliver against project objectives and timelines always exceeds our expectations both in terms of cost effectiveness and satisfying the desired communication goals. A pleasure to work with.”

Hal Campbell, VP Business Development of Initial Brands

“I’ve worked with a lot of designers, both internal at client organizations and in agencies. I appreciate Colourphill’s professionalism, flexibility, creativity and — perhaps most importantly — the ability to ‘read’ a client to meet their particular needs.”

Marcia Mcougall, President of Integreat Marketing PR Events Inc.

“I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your professional contribution to our proposal for entry into the Ontario Development Player League. To see a vision become reality is the fulfillment of the greatest dreams. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Luciano di Loreto, Kleinberg Nobleton Soccer Club's Technical Director

Our Work

Our Team

Before founding Colourphill, Irina worked in both studio and corporate environments, earning her an appreciation of the challenges facing both designers and clients in the course of a communication project. Having traversed artistically from the renowned Academy of Art Institute in Moscow to the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto, she has crossed both longitudes and attitudes. Finding herself subject to cold winters yet again, Irina is drawn to warm locales and enjoys tennis, salsa and diving – activities that remind her of sunshine. Irina is a member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario and the Advertising & Design Club of Canada. She has taught at OCAD and participates in the RGD Ontario Mentorship Program to help recent design graduates develop their careers.

    Senior Designer

Ellen’s enviable talents include a no-nonsense design aesthetic and diligent attention to layout detail. She also cherishes every opportunity to use her word wit to write and edit projects that require an added touch of creative ingenuity. Ellen studied corporate design at the Ontario College of Art & Design and then furthered her education at Queen’s University in English language and literature. She is a member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario. Ellen volunteers her expertise as Communications Director in her community’s ringette association and, in her spare time, participates in a writers’ roundtable and creates outdoor beauty in her garden.
      Margaret Lam

      Margaret Lam

      Informatics and Systems Designer

Margaret’s passion for art and design began in the specialized CyberARTS program in Toronto. While working as a graphic designer and production manager, she pursued a specialist B.A. Hon in music history, as well as a Masters in Information Studies. Margaret often draws on her diverse experience as a writer and researcher as part of the Colourphill team. Informatics and system design is her specialty. She takes into account the socio-technical dimensions of our projects, and develops communication solutions that address the needs of our corporate and community-based clients. When not at work, she’s busy working on projects related to the transmission of music knowledge online, making music and supporting various community organizations around the city.
